Tottenham Hotspur have never been shy about making a statement, and this summer they may be about to make their loudest one yet. The north London club has reportedly opened formal talks with Galatasaray over a sensational move for Victor Osimhen, the Nigerian striker who has terrorized defenses across Italy and Turkey for the better part of five years. If the transfer window had a highlight reel, this would already be near the top.
The Numbers Behind the Chase

According to reports from CaughtOffside and Turkish transfer insider Ekrem Konur, Spurs have tabled an opening offer in the £50 million to £55 million range. Galatasaray, however, are not budging easily. The Turkish champions paid Napoli around €75 million for Osimhen in July 2025 and are said to be holding out for a fee closer to £65 million before letting their prized forward walk. Given that he signed a four-year contract, Galatasaray hold real leverage here, and this opening bid looks more like a starting point than a final answer.

Tottenham reportedly received internal sporting approval before making contact, and sources close to the deal suggest personal terms will not be the sticking point. The real negotiation is going to happen between the boardrooms, not around a contract table.
Why Osimhen Fits the De Zerbi Project

Roberto De Zerbi has already overseen one of the most aggressive rebuilds in the Premier League this window, with Tottenham spending upward of £230 million on names like Sandro Tonali, Matheus Fernandes, and Jan Paul van Hecke. What has been missing is a genuine focal point up front, someone Spurs have lacked since Harry Kane’s departure.

Osimhen checks that box emphatically. Since his move to Istanbul, he has racked up 59 goals and 16 assists in 74 official appearances, numbers that put him among the most productive number nines in European football. He also brings the exact profile De Zerbi’s possession-heavy, high-pressing system demands: a striker who can lead the line, win the ball back high up the pitch, and finish the half-chances his teammates create.

There is a layer of poetic tension here too. Osimhen has previously torn Tottenham apart on the pitch, scoring twice in a Europa League clash in Istanbul that Galatasaray won 3-2. Spurs fans know exactly what he is capable of doing to a defense; now they might get to see it in white instead of fearing it in maroon.
Crowded Race, Uncertain Outcome

Tottenham are not alone in this pursuit. Manchester United, Chelsea, and Atletico Madrid have all been credited with interest, adding urgency to Spurs’ next move. Much may also hinge on Richarlison’s future, with De Zerbi still publicly backing the Brazilian even as speculation over his exit continues to swirl.

For now, Osimhen is reportedly open to the switch, and Tottenham appear ready to push hard before the window closes. Whether this becomes the marquee transfer of Spurs’ summer or another near-miss transfer saga depends entirely on how quickly the gap between £55 million and £65 million can close.
