Everton Close In on Folarin Balogun as Personal Terms Fall Into Place

Everton are on the verge of landing a genuine statement signing. According to multiple reports on deadline day, the Toffees have agreed personal terms with Folarin Balogun and reached a club-to-club agreement with Monaco worth around 40 million pounds, putting David Moyes on the brink of completing one of the most exciting additions of his second spell at Goodison Park.

How the Deal Came Together

This one moved fast even by deadline day standards. Everton opened with a formal 18 million euro offer earlier on Monday, but talks accelerated dramatically as the hours ticked down. According to Fabrizio Romano, Everton and Monaco have now struck a club-to-club agreement worth 45 million euros guaranteed, with a further 5 million euros in potential add-ons and a sell-on clause protecting Monaco’s interest down the line. That package works out to roughly 40 million pounds, one of the more significant fees Everton have committed under Moyes.

Crucially, the player himself has never been the obstacle. Balogun reportedly reached an agreement in principle over personal terms early in negotiations, having already made clear to Monaco that Merseyside was his preferred next step. With the fee now largely settled between the clubs, all that remains is finalizing those terms and completing a medical before the move becomes official.

Why Balogun Fits Everton’s Plans

The 25-year-old United States international is no stranger to English football, having come through Arsenal’s academy before loan spells at Middlesbrough and Stade Reims turned heads across Europe. His move to Monaco followed in 2023, and after a slower start on the French Riviera, Balogun’s production surged this past season with 19 goals and four assists in 43 appearances. He further boosted his profile with a standout showing for the United States at the 2026 World Cup, despite a swirl of controversy after a suspension tied to a red card was ultimately overturned.

Timing matters here too. Everton have been reshaping their attack in the closing days of the window, with Beto expected to depart for Fiorentina in a deal worth around 15 million pounds and Liam Delap already having moved on to Nottingham Forest. That combination of departures created both the space and the financial flexibility for Moyes to pursue Balogun as a genuinely different kind of striker, one who offers Premier League readiness alongside proven pedigree in France.

A Busy Deadline Day at Goodison Park

Balogun’s arrival is only part of the story unfolding at Everton on Monday. The same day, the club also agreed to send Iliman Ndiaye to Manchester City, showing just how much business Moyes and the recruitment team are packing into the final hours before Tuesday’s window closes.

What Comes Next

Barring a late twist, which can never fully be ruled out until the window officially shuts, Folarin Balogun looks set to become Everton’s next frontline addition. For a club looking to build serious momentum this season, landing a striker with his blend of Premier League roots, proven European scoring form, and World Cup experience would represent exactly the kind of statement signing Evertonians have been hoping for all summer.
