If you wanted proof that the UEFA Champions League is football’s greatest show, PSG vs Barcelona delivered it at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night. Six goals, two Barcelona comebacks, and four goals in just 14 minutes. When the dust settled, Luis Enrique’s PSG were still perfect in the league phase, and Hansi Flick’s Barcelona had suffered their first defeat of the season in any competition.
PSG Start Like a Team Late for a Train

PSG came out pressing so hard that Barcelona struggled to pass their way out of defence, and the rested Rodri, left on the bench with a minor muscle problem, was badly missed. By halftime PSG had 21 shots to Barcelona’s seven, with ten on target to two.

Yet they led by only one, thanks to Désiré Doué, who found a yard of space at the edge of the box in the 38th minute and beat Joan García. Injuries to Ousmane Dembélé and Dani Olmo hit both sides before the break.
Espart Gives Barcelona a Lifeline

Barcelona’s reply came from 19-year-old La Masia graduate Xavi Espart. On his first Champions League start, he linked up with Fermín López, raced through and finished in the 55th minute, sneaking the ball under a weak save attempt from Safonov. Suddenly the Parc des Princes was nervous.
Four Goals in 14 Minutes

Then the match went wild. In the 72nd minute, Lucas Hernández headed in a João Neves corner, his first goal in 1,113 days. Seven minutes later, Lamine Yamal raced past substitute Warren Zaïre-Emery, who had been on the pitch for 30 seconds, and smashed an equaliser into the top of the net.

The celebrations lasted 109 seconds. Vitinha thumped a shot from outside the box in the 81st minute, and Fabián Ruiz tapped in an Achraf Hakimi cross at the back post in the 86th. Barcelona ran out of gas, and PSG kept coming in waves.
What It Means for the Champions League Table

PSG now have nine points from three games and a plus-nine goal difference, which keeps them top, with Liverpool level on points but behind on goal difference. Barcelona began the night second and finished it fifth. The two-time reigning champions have made a loud statement: the road to the trophy still runs through Paris.
Yamal and the Ballon d’Or Race

Yamal, who is hoping to win this year’s Ballon d’Or, scored a sensational solo goal, but he also lost possession in his own half before Doué’s opener. Brilliant moments matter in a Ballon d’Or race, yet so do wins in the biggest games, and this one went to Paris.
Flick’s Verdict and What Comes Next

Flick admitted PSG were better, said his tired side made too many mistakes, and pointed to a drop in freshness late on. PSG have their own headaches, because Dembélé, Kvaratskhelia and Marquinhos all went off injured. Barcelona’s next big test is El Clásico against Real Madrid, and a bruised Barça will be desperate to bounce back.
Final Whistle

PSG 4-2 Barcelona will be replayed for years: a coming-of-age night for Espart, a reminder that champions do not hand over their crown quietly, and a Champions League classic. Bookmark this page for more results, analysis and match reports.
