Real Madrid 4-1 Sevilla was the kind of Sunday night you replay three times before bed. At the Bernabeu on October 18, Kylian Mbappe scored twice, and Arda Guler and Yan Diomande also scored. Jose Mourinho’s side climbed into third place in La Liga with El Clasico exactly one week away.
Guler Sets the Tone With a Long-Range Rocket

Madrid were patient early. Then Diomande, playing on the left in place of the suspended Vinicius Junior, fed Guler on the edge of the box. The breakthrough came around the half-hour mark, when the midfielder arrowed a shot into the top corner.

Sevilla had a grievance, though. Guler appeared to elbow a Sevilla player earlier, with no action from the referee, and Mourinho said he hadn’t seen the images. Sevilla coach Luis Garcia Plaza felt his side were denied a game against ten men.
Mbappe’s Roulette Goal Steals the Show

Moments later came the highlight of the night. Jude Bellingham slipped in a clever backheel, and Mbappe turned sharply past the Sevilla defence with a roulette on the edge of the box. He sidestepped the goalkeeper and rolled the ball home. It will be in the running for goal of the season. goal
The Panenka Penalty

After the break, Mbappe won a penalty and took it with total nonchalance. He converted it with a Panenka chip, drifting the ball down the middle while the goalkeeper dived. That was his ninth league goal of the season, and it arrives as Ballon d’Or talk builds ahead of the October 26 ceremony in London.
Sevilla Reply, Diomande Seals It

Manu Bueno scored a consolation for Sevilla.

Diomande soon fired home to wrap up the three points. The winger joined from RB Leipzig this summer, and Leipzig are Madrid’s next Champions League opponents, so that goal carries extra spice.
What the Result Means for El Clasico

Madrid controlled around 64 percent of the ball and had 17 shots to Sevilla’s 11. They moved above Real Betis, who lost 5-2 to leaders Barcelona on Saturday. Barca are six points ahead of Madrid, with Atletico Madrid sandwiched in second.

That sets up a huge Clasico at Camp Nou next Sunday. Madrid arrive with momentum, a growing Mbappe-Bellingham-Guler connection and one big question: will Vinicius be available?
