It is the Tottenham transfer saga nobody saw coming: a 29-year-old Brazilian striker who was the club’s top scorer last season, now frozen out of the squad and heading for the exit. According to Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade, Tottenham have told Richarlison’s representatives they will help him leave in January, and Fabrizio Romano expects the same.
How Richarlison Fell Out of Favour

The trouble started over the summer. Roberto De Zerbi says Richarlison told him several times that he wanted to leave, even though De Zerbi had planned to discuss a new contract. Richarlison was then left out of the squad for the Newcastle game and later from Tottenham’s official Premier League squad list. De Zerbi said he stopped pressuring players who show they want out.
The Summer Deals That Collapsed

A move back to Everton, who were willing to pay about 35 million pounds, never got over the line, and Richarlison publicly vented his frustration at how the talks were handled. Romano says a proposal from Turkey’s Trabzonspor was accepted by the player but rejected by Tottenham, and Spurs also set a limit on loans. By the time the Premier League squad list was set, the window had already shut for Europe’s top five leagues.
What Tottenham Have Reportedly Decided

Now the story has moved on. Andrade says Tottenham have told his representatives they will facilitate his departure, so he will not need to sign a pre-contract and wait until June to leave for free. He says his legal team and Tottenham’s legal department also found no grounds to terminate the contract early. Romano says the relationship has completely broken down, and recent reports claim Spurs will accept a cut-price fee, well below what Everton offered.
Where Could He Go?

Options are limited but real. Trabzonspor and clubs in Saudi Arabia have shown interest, and a return to Brazil has been discussed, though Andrade rules out Vasco da Gama, Palmeiras and Fluminense for January. He may even leave English football for another market altogether. There is also a twist: Richarlison could decide to run down his contract and leave as a free agent.
Can Tottenham Cope Without Him?

Spurs can. Dominic Solanke is now fully fit, and Omar Marmoush joined from Manchester City, giving De Zerbi enough striking options. That is why Richarlison has not been considered since the summer window closed. But Tottenham have had an uneven start, and their squad depth will be tested before the January window opens.
