The Match That Had Everything
Unai Emery’s Aston Villa arrived at Villa Park trailing 1-0 from the first leg, with Nottingham Forest smelling blood after a gritty win at the City Ground. But from the first whistle, it was one-way traffic. Villa Park was a cauldron of noise, and the players delivered a performance worthy of the occasion.

Ollie Watkins opened the scoring in the 36th minute with a clinical tap-in after some magical footwork from Emiliano Buendía. The tie was level, and the momentum was unstoppable. Early in the second half, Buendía coolly converted a penalty to put Villa in front on aggregate. Then came the captain’s masterclass.
John McGinn, the heartbeat of this Villa side, bagged a stunning brace in the 77th and 80th minutes. First a curled beauty, then a clinical finish to turn the game into a rout. Forest had no answer — their five-game winning streak shattered on the big stage.

Final Score: Aston Villa 4-0 Nottingham Forest
Aggregate: 4-1
Goals: Watkins 36’, Buendía 58’ (pen), McGinn 77’, 80’
Villa are back in a major European final for the first time since 1982. The roar at full time? Deafening. Prince William was among the fans loving every second of it. Emery has worked his magic again.

Freiburg’s Historic Night: SC Freiburg 3-1 Braga (4-3 agg)
Over in Germany, SC Freiburg hosted Braga needing to overturn a 2-1 first-leg deficit. What followed was a masterclass in resilience and attacking football at the Europa-Park Stadion.
Braga were reduced to 10 men early (Mario Dorgeles sent off in the 6th minute), but Freiburg still had to break them down. Lukas Kübler fired them ahead in the 19th minute, Johan Manzambi made it 2-0 before half-time, and Kübler struck again in the 72nd for 3-0 on the night. Braga grabbed a late consolation through Pau Víctor, but it wasn’t enough.

Final Score: Freiburg 3-1 Braga
Aggregate: 4-3
Goals: Kübler 19’, 72’, Manzambi 41’; Pau Víctor 79’
Freiburg reach their first-ever European final. What a story for the German outfit!
