Chelsea claims clear-cut 3 points at Turf Moore after a disappointing performance from the home side. The victory came through sustained pressure and decisive moments, one of which was Pedro Neto’s header in the 37th minute which put them in front, and the second was when Enzo Fernandez sealed off the victory with a composed finish in the 89th minute.
The hosts best efforts came from Loum Tchaouna, and Armando Broja – Tchaouna made an effort on target in the 20th minute while Broja’s strike came late, around stoppage time of the game.
Match Summary
Chelsea were Superior through out the game and this was reflected in the corner count (9-1) with a burst of three corners preceding Neto’s opener. A halftime substitute with Benoit Badiashile did not disrupt their control of the game.
Burnley showed their intent early in the game as they got the first attempt of the day when Loum Tchaouna struck a ball which was deflected off target. However, the early freekick awarded to Chelsea in their defensive area game them a chance to reorganize and dictate the play from their end.
After a series of the visitors got the opener in the 37th minute through Pedro Neto who headed home a cross from Gittens.

Burnley continued to push forward with hopes of leveling the scoreline but Chelsea remained on high alert till the end of the first period.
The second half resumed with Chelsea making halftime changes to defend their lead as Benoit Badiahile came on for Reece James. Joao Pedro made a great left-footed strike from inside Burnley’s penalty area but, unfortunately, it was sent off target. Chelsea applied significant pressure offensively throughout the match and it paid off again in the 88th minute when Fernandez was able to finish a pass from substitute Guiu.
The hosts now faced an uphill battle with just a few a minutes of play left. Burnley, however, tried to spark a late rally with just 2 minutes of injury time left when they were awarded a free kick on the wing in the middle third of Chelsea’s half, but they were unable to convert.
What this means for both sides
This game marks the 3rd straight defeat for Burnley who went into this game from the 17th position with 10 points. However they will remain in 10th place as Crystal Palace and Brighton will play their outstanding matches later today.
Chelsea who went into this game from the 3rd place in the League standings with 20 points will now move up to 2nd place with 23 points, and are are just 2 points away from Arsenal at the top with the leaders having an outstanding match at home against Tottenham tomorrow. They are also only a point ahead of Manches City who have an outstanding match against Newcastle later today.
