Barcelona youngster, Lamine Yamal’s case between his Club and Spain has escalated after the Barcelona issued a notice. The Spanish Federation in an official statement said, “Lamine underwent a radio frequency treatment for pubic discomfort on the same day Spain’s training camp began, without any prior notice to their staff.
“We were only informed late that night via a report recommending 7-10 days of rest and so released him immediately prioritizing his health”.
Speaking on the matter, Spain manager, De La Fuente expressed his surprise at the fact that Barça had not shared information of Yamal’s injury earlier on.

Barcelona’s Response: Sources reported that Barcelona behaved “responsibly and in coordination” the 17 year old and were only concerned with his medical needs and since dismissed all suggestions that their actions were without the knowledge of the Federation. This response came after the Royal Spanish Football Federation publicly expressed its surprise and discomfort with regards to the radio frequency procedure the player underwent, while also claiming that they were uninformed of the procedure as well as he mandatory rest period.
What this means
Lamine Yamal who arrived Spain for international duty on Monday evening is set to undergo treatment for his pubic inflammation and will miss out on international action for Spain when they face Georgia and Türkiye on November 15 and November 18 in the World Cup qualifiers. He will head back to Barcelona where he will rest for two weeks before resuming play if his condition gets better.

This situation has reignited old tensions around the management of young players between Barcelona and the Spanish Federation. The club still pushes for the Federation to respect its medical roadmap for young talents but the Federation leans toward closer coordination and more clarity.
While both parties focus on his recovery, Barcelona expects the youngster to resume optimal performance after the international break as he has become a very vital part of Hans Flick’s team.
