NEW: Club Brugge and Barcelona play out pulsating 3–3 Champions League draw

Club Brugge and Barcelona served up a breathless Champions League encounter at the Jan Breydelstadion that finished 3–3, a game packed with twists and late drama. Barcelona trailed twice and twice did they equalize before stealing a point. Although they came close to claiming all three points in the second minute of stoppage time but a VAR review confirmed an original decision by the referee not to award a goal.

Match Overview

The hosts started the brighter of the two teams and seized an early advantage, punishing moments of hesitation in Barcelona’s defence. Club Brugge’s pressing and directness unsettled the visitors, and they took the lead in the opening exchanges to spark wild celebration in the home end. Barcelona, who have been vulnerable defensively at times this season, looked unsteady as Brugge continued to probe on the counter.

Club Brugge celebrate goal over Barcelona

Barcelona’s response came through moments of individual quality. Lamine Yamal, the teenager who has quickly become one of Europe’s most exciting young talents, produced a moment of brilliance to haul the visitors level, his movement and delivery creating real problems for Brugge’s defenders. Yet Brugge refused to relent, they regained the lead with a smart finish that underlined their threat on the break and the lethal finishing of their frontline.

The pattern repeated in the second half. Barcelona worked their way back into the game, showing patience in possession and sharper combinations in the final third. Ferran Torres, played a key role in Barcelona’s attacking thrusts and was involved in a goal that swung momentum back in the Catalans’ favour. But Brugge, buoyed by their supporters, hit back again to restore parity and then take the lead once more, turning the match into a seesaw of emotion.

With the clock ticking away and the match threatening to slip from their grasp, Barcelona produced a late surge. Yamal again was central to the revival, a curling effort forced a crucial intervention that ultimately led to a decisive deflection as a Brugge player turned the ball into his own net, levelling the score at 3–3. In stoppage time both sides had chances to snatch victory. Brugge carved out openings on the counter and Barcelona piled forward in waves, but neither could find the winner. The final whistle confirmed a draw that felt like a win and a defeat in the same breath, depending on which dugout you asked.
