Arsenal have launched a concerted drive to extend the contracts of three of their most important players. Winger, Bukayo Saka is at the front of the queue for renewal, while centre-half, Jurrien Timber and midfielder, Declan Rice are close behind in the club’s plans. The club’s sporting leadership sees this as part of a broader strategy to build a long-term core capable of challenging domestically and in Europe.

Move for Saka leads the charge, Timber and Rice follow

Discussions with Bukayo Saka have progressed significantly and are now in advanced stages signalling the club’s urgency to secure the England forward’s future. Arsenal view Saka, a product of their academy who has become central to their attacking identity, as a key pillar for the next era.

At the same time, the club is optimistic about extending Jurrien Timber’s deal and has identified Declan Rice as likely to follow once the talks with Saka and Timber are nearer completion. Rice, who joined Arsenal in a major move, is already integrated as a key part of the midfield engine, and the club considers him indispensable for their ambitions.

Strategic renewal drive for sustained competitiveness

By moving early to renew the contracts of Saka, Timber and Rice, Arsenal are sending a clear message about continuity and stability. Rather than waiting until players are entering the final two years of their contracts, a scenario that can lead to uncertainty or weakened negotiating positions, the club wants to avoid that risk entirely.

Securing Saka for the long term ensures continuity on the attack, while renewing Timber helps fortify the defence, and locking in Rice keeps the midfield anchor in place. Together, these moves are intended to preserve the spine of the team as Arsenal aims to remain competitive at the highest level.
