Inter Milan and AC Milan
The Municipality of Milan City has approved the acquisition proposal from both Milan Club, worth €197million for the San Siro Stadium and its surrounding land area.
Both Milan clubs plan to build a state-of-the-art 72,000-capacity arena adjacent to the current San Siro, safeguarding parts of the ancient stadium for heritage or multi-use purposes until the new venue is completed. This prevents full on-site demolition during construction, reducing dislocation and interference.
The Redevelopment Project, contracted to construction giants Foster + Partners and MANICA, targets sustainability, optimum fan experience, and massive revenue generation.
It will serve as a Socio-Economic Hub for the Milan province, including commercial, residential, and environmental resort.
Development

San Siro, built in 1926 and shared by the city rivals since 1947, falls short of modern quality standards; hence, the project plan addresses revenue voids (both clubs lag behind European peers) and enhances Italy’s general Stadium upgrade mission.
The €197million joint purchase will be managed by a new joint holding company formed by AC Milan Owners (RedBird Capital Partners) and Inter Owners (Oaktree Capital Management). This body will manage the acquisition, construction, and operations fully.
This move ends years of doubt, including abandoned proposed plans of separate stadiums for both clubs in the city. Though many fans express their concerns over the loss of an iconic and historic venue that is home to legends and heroes like Maldini, Cafu, Zanetti, etc, many others still delight at the possible economic benefits, such as employment generation, tourism enhancement, and Milan’s global ambition.
Fans and Analysts on Social Media are excited with anticipation, engaging in conversations on the holding company’s operational role and projected ROI.
This proposal agreement approval is the latest “Go-ahead,” but the deed signing seems to be the final obstacle. Expect the clubs to stay at the San Siro till at least the year 2030, ensuring no immediate Milan-Derby relocation.
