Manchester United has extended their win streak with a 4-2 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford with a late goal from Mbeumo which sealed the win after a late scare from Brighton who looked dangerous late in the second half. Mbeumo was phenomenal on the night with a brace and repeated good positioning.
Match Overview

The game was filled with much action and drama as both teams looked to cause trouble for the opposition defense. United enjoyed a 2:0 victory by halftime from Matheus Cunha’s opener – from outside the penalty area, and a crisp strike from Casemiro who was set up by Luke Shaw.
While Brighton’s reply came after Bryan Mbeumo made it 3-0 in the 61st minute. Former United Forward pulled one back for the visitors through a direct freekick igniting hope for his side. They came close when Charalampos Kostoulas reduced their deficit in the 2 minute of stoppage time. With the scoreline now down to a goal separating the two sides, Brighton kept on mounting pressure on United’s defense but all hopes were lost when Mbeumo got his second of the night in the 97th minute, sealing the victory for the hosts.

What this means for the teams
United increase the back-to-back tally and move up to 16 points from nine matches. This win will serve as a significant boost for United while offering a means of returning the 3-1 loss to the visitors back in January. United conceded twice in the second half with a goal late in the game. This signifies an area they will have to tighten up regardless of their increasing momentum.
Brighton will remain with 12 points in 13th position, but will have to go back to the drawing board to fix their lapses. They lost the ball too quickly and made a lot of defensive errors and will have to fix these lapses if they hope to make a good outing next weekend.
Upcoming fixtures
Manchester United will get on the road to take on Nottingham Forest next Saturday at City Ground after which they will head to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to face Andreas Georgson’s boys.
Brighton will turn their attention to their EFL fixture at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night where they’ll face league leaders Arsenal for the fourth round of the competition. They will then welcome Leeds United on Saturday afternoon at the American Express Stadium.
