Former Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany has extended his contract as head coach to Bayern Munich following his successful first full season with the German side in which he secured the German Bundesliga title and Super Cup. There were initial skepticism following his arrival from English side Burnley in May 2024 but his achievements – 49 wins in 67 matches, a perfect 11-0-0 record so far this term and scoring 40 goals while concede nine amid injury crises, has moved Club leaders including CEO Jan-Christian Dresden and sporting director, Max Eberl to offer him an extension which will last till June 30, 2029.

Kompany’s Accomplishments
For Bayern: Since joining the club from Burnley in 2024/25 season, Kompany has been credited with fostering a dominant, possession-based squad, marking Bayern’s first such extension since 2010. In his first term, he has won a Bundesliga title, German Super Cup, and has gotten 194 goals while conceding only 66.
Speaking on the contract extension, he had this to say, “I am grateful, honored. It feels like I’ve been here much longer and that I understand the club well. It’s been a great experience so far. We’ve started on a wonderful journey. Let’s keep working hard and celebrate much more success.”
President, Herbert Hainer expressed the club’s confidence in the Belgian, citing his excellent performance so far as well as clear sign of continuity and stability.
“The contract extension with Vincent Kompany is a strong vote of confidence from the club after the great job he’s done up to now, as well as a clear sign for continuity and stability at FC Bayern. Vincent is held in high regard by the players, the club management and the fans. We’re happy about the early extension of our cooperation.”
Meanwhile, Bayern CEO also expressed his delight in Vincent’s leadership stating that it has brought back the fun and spark that once was in the club.

Upcoming Fixtures
Following this extension, Kompany is expected to lead Bayern in tomorrow night’s UEFA Champions League fixture against Club Brugge at the Allianz Arena. Then they are going to head on to the Bundesliga to face Mõnchengladbach on the road this weekend. They will then take another trip to Koln on Wednesday October 29 for the second round of the DFB-Pokal competition.
