Football icon, Cristiano Ronaldo added yet another prestigious award to his collection on October 7 when he was honored with the Globe Prestige Award at the Portugal Football Globes 2025 ceremony. The award recognizes his 22 years of service to Portugal’s national team.
In his acceptance speech, he expressed pride and reaffirmed his undying passion for playing with his country and Al-Nassr. The Portuguese focused on upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Ireland and Hungary and dismissed all rumors of his retirement also emphasizing on his day-by-day approach and commitment to contributing to the team’s success ahead of the 2026 tournament.

“I want to keep playing for a few more years, not many… I have to be honest.
“I’m still producing good things, helping my club and the national team. Why not continue? I’m sure when I retire, I’ll leave fulfilled because I gave everything.
“I know you must be tired of still seeing me here at these ceremonies! But I’m proud and happy.
“I think I still bring a lot to the national team and to football,” he said.
He then went on to express his gratitude to all his teammates for everything they taught him while highlighting his goal to win their next two games and qualify for the World Cup.
“I thank all my teammates for everything I’ve learned from them – and even from this younger generation too.
“Our goal is to win the next two games and qualify for the World Cup. What happens at the World Cup, we’ll see…” he said.
Speaking further, he highlighted his pleasure in the little moments he has left to play and stated that he’ll be making the most of it, “it’s about enjoying the moment. I know I don’t have many years left to play, but the little time I have, I want to make the most of it.
I have a philosophy of living day by day. No long term plans. I enjoy each day and each training session.”
In attendance were Pepe, José Mourinho, Jorge Jesus and many former teammates. This award underscores his excellent performance over the years.

In preparation for the World Cup, Ronaldo and Portugal will resume training ahead of Saturday night when they will host Republic of Ireland for the Group F clash of the FIFA World Cup European Qualifier after which the will welcome Hungary for another game to this effect on Tuesday, October 14.
