Aston Villa made a statement in their Europa League campaign with a composed 2-0 away win at Feyenoord in De Kuip. Goals from Emiliano Buendía and John McGinn in the second half sealed their wonderful performance.
The home side had their spell of dominance early on, creating several chances, but couldn’t convert them, thanks to Villa’s substitute goalkeeper Marco Bizot, who made several crucial saves.

Villa struck first in the 61st minute when Buendía curled a fine effort into the top corner following a pass from Boubacar Kamara. In the 79th minute John McGinn made it 2-0 after a scramble in the box, with Donyell Malen’s hustle producing the opportunity.

Villa’s win brings an end to Feyenoord’s strong home win run. The result gives Villa a perfect start in the Europa League group stage, boosting confidence under Unai Emery.
