Arsenal move within two points of Premier League leaders Liverpool after an inspired 2-1 comeback win over Newcastle United today. Arsenal netted as many goals in the last 6 minutes of regular time today as they have in their previous four Premier League away games at St. James Park combined. This was the second time Arsenal had gone to win a game after trailing in the Premier League since April 2013.
Match Recapitulation
The Magpies took the lead in the first half through Woltemade’s header which came after Gyokeres’ penalty was overruled by the VAR. The lead was very sturdily defended with Pope making several saves and Thiaw making timely lay-Dutch tackles to avert danger.

Six minutes into stoppage time, Gunners’ captain Odegaard put his side one goal up with a cross towards goal which defender Gabriel was able to direct with a header into the center of the net.

What’s next?
Both teams will redirect their attentions back to the Champions League next week as Arsenal will host Olympiacos at the Emirates stadium while Newcastle will visit Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise.
