Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta celebrated after the match as they are now first on the Premier League table with 4 goals separating them from Liverpool in second place. Although Liverpool are yet to play their fourth match of the season and will face Burnley tomorrow.

Match overview

We witnessed a one-way traffic in the first half seeing early chances missed by Merino, Gabriel, Gyokeres, Nwaneri and Timber. Arsenal took the lead in the 32nd minute of the first half with a sublime volley strike from the edge of the box past Sels as Madueke corner was headed out creating a loose ball.

Shortly afterwards, an Arsenal long throw was headed half-cleared onto the path of Zubimendi on the edge of the area but this time the volleyed effort drifted over the crossbar.

Nottingham Forest came close to leveling for the visitors when Anderson linked up with Gibbs-White. The duo created a fabulous chance with a one-two play but the return ball was shot wide of the far post.

Arsenal looked dangerous again in the fourth minute of added time before halftime when Eze cut the ball from the byline but shot the ball wide of the near post.

A minute into the second half, Victor Gyokeres was able to double Arsenal’s lead as a Calafiori’s ball over the was too much for Savona to handle. Eze was able to run in behind Savona to square for Gyokeres who simply tapped the ball home.

Forest came close to an instant reply as Ndoye lost Calafiori, darted down the right and fired the ball straight into Wood’s chest. The ball which came off Wood’s chest looped towards goal, bouncing back off the cross bar leaving Raya stranded, and Mosquera sliding in to scythe the ball away from Hudson-Odoi who was prepared to pounce on the rebound.

Gunners kept on building pressure on the defense and were rewarded in the 79th minute as Zubimendi snatched his second of the day with a stunning header from the six-yard box.

Ten minutes later, Arsenal saw penalty claims waved away as Trossard went down in the box from minimal pressure.

This result underscores the depth and integration of new talents in Mikel Arteta’s squad, and has strengthened Arsenal’s unbeaten run. It has also greatly boosted the team’s morale towards the title challenge this season.
