2024/25 Champions League winner, Gianluigi Donnarumma has bid farewell to his former French side, Paris Saint-Germain as he joins English side, Manchester City. The Italian goalkeeper moved to Manchester City for €30m, a contract which will last till 2030 and includes an option for an additional year. He will replace Emerson who has joined Fenerbahçe, and hopes to boost City’s chance at the Premier League and Champions League campaigns this season. He is an excellent leader and will be bringing that trait to Etihad.
Earlier today, the Goal stopper expressed his delight in the move saying there was a mutual interest between him and the club, and that Pep Guardiola really trusted him. “Pep wanted me there and I can only feel proud about that. I’m so happy to join such a top club,” he said.
Speaking at a press conference, Donnarumma said, “I couldn’t wait to go to City… you can’t be anything but proud for the work I have done. I still need to work hard, but I am happy and excited.”

When asked about his former manager he had this to say, “I’ve always had a good relationship with Luis Enrique. I appreciated him being so direct with me when we started the training camp. Not sure if I’m disappointed, everyone chooses what they believe to be the best. It’s right for a manager to make his choices.”
He went further to state that his goal is to win as much as he could with Man City and with the Italian national team.

Gianluigi Donnarumma who has amassed 17 clean sheets from 47 games for PSG would have been a great addition to City’s rival Manchester United but was passed on account of his huge wage demands. He was earning £275k per week at PSG and wanted £475k in his move to England.
With the transfer window now closed, City will be looking forward to a blissful season ahead with Donnarumma in goal.
