José Mourinho has emerged as a pronounced option for the role of manager at Nottingham Forest following rumors of the exit of current manager Nuno Espírito Santo. The former Chelsea, Spurs and Manchester United manager who now manages Turkish side Fenerbahce came into consideration on Friday when Nuno confirmed that his relationship with the club was had changed.
The Portuguese national who has won Champions League, Europa League and Conference League is considered the most viable candidate for the role with Forest seeking for huge improvement in their League performance. The Chosen One, as he is fondly called by fans led his Turkish side to finish second place last season and made the list alongside his fellow former Spurs manager at Ange Postecoglou. The list of prospective managerial replacements followed a behind the scenes altercation between current manager Nuno Espirito and sporting director Edu. The blowback is believed to be a result of Nuno’s comments on the activity of the he Club on the transfer market – comments which were targeted at Edu who joined the club in July from Arsenal.
In a press conference, Nuno spoke on the state of his relationship with the Club’s owner, Greek businessman Evangelos Marinakis. “The reality is that it is not what it used to be. It used to be a good respectful relationship based more on trust and sharing opinions, now it is not so good,” he said.

The 62year old who is notoriously outspoken and prone to outburst is currently faced with bans and controversies at Fenerbahce and would be a perfect fit for Forest. He is best know to the English side by his two spell at Chelsea where he won three Premier league titles, four league cups and an FA cup, and sees Forest as a great opportunity if he were to return to the English league.
While speculations of Mourinho’s future at Fenerbahce has strengthened the club would not be making any effort to retain him should his side loose their Champions League playoff against Benfica. He is however a top contender for the top management position at Fenerbahce
