Deadlock
The home side looked dangerous throughout the game and threatened right from the kickoff with a long pass, which was collected by the goalkeeper Courtois. In the 49th minute, Valverde came close to doubling the lead for his side with a long-range effort that went over the crossbar. The Uruguayan made another effort at goal in the 66th minute through a swift counterattack, but Escandell was able to change the course of the ball away from the goal.
