The football world is in meltdown once again — and this time, the drama is centered squarely on Kylian Mbappé at Real Madrid.

Just days ago, an online petition titled “Mbappé Out” exploded across social media. What started as a frustrated fan campaign has snowballed into one of the most viral (and controversial) fan movements in recent football history

The Numbers Are Insane

At the time of writing, the petition hosted on mbappeout.replit.app has reportedly surpassed 27 million signatures, with some social media claims pushing the figure as high as 28 million in a matter of days. Whether every signature is 100% legitimate (bot concerns have been raised), the sheer volume shows the depth of discontent among sections of the Madridista fanbase.

The petition’s rallying cry is simple: “Madridistas, make your voice heard. If you believe change is needed, don’t stay silent—sign this petition and stand for what you think is best for the club’s future.”

Why Are Fans So Angry?

Real Madrid are currently 11 points behind Barcelona in La Liga with just a handful of games left, effectively waving goodbye to the title. No major trophies this season after a turbulent campaign that saw manager changes (Xabi Alonso’s exit and Álvaro Arbeloa stepping in interim).

Mbappé, who arrived with galactic expectations in 2024, has been the lightning rod for criticism. While his goal tally remains impressive (around 24+ in La Liga and over 40 across all competitions), fans point to:

  • Perceived lack of work rate and individualism on the pitch.
  • Off-field controversies, including a much-criticized trip with his girlfriend during an injury recovery period ahead of big matches like El Clásico.
  • Reports of training ground tensions and late arrivals.

Many supporters feel the team actually performed better in stretches without him, adding fuel to the fire. The hashtag #MbappeOut has been trending heavily, with comments sections under his posts flooded with demands for him to leave.

But Let’s Keep It Real…

Mbappé still has a long-term contract until 2029 and remains one of the most talented players on the planet. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano and others have downplayed the chances of an immediate exit, calling the petition more noise than substance. His camp has dismissed some criticisms as overblown interpretations of his recovery process.

Yet the petition has clearly struck a nerve. It highlights the brutal reality of playing for Real Madrid: the biggest club in the world demands instant success and total commitment. Galácticos get zero honeymoon period.

What Happens Next?

Will Florentino Pérez and the board take any notice of this fan uproar? Could a big summer clear-out be on the cards? Or will Mbappé silence the doubters with a stellar end to the season and a strong 2026/27 campaign?

One thing’s for sure — the pressure is sky-high. The Frenchman finds himself at a crossroads earlier than anyone expected.

Football fans love a story, and right now Mbappé’s saga at the Bernabéu is delivering pure soap-opera levels of drama. Whether you’re Team “Sell Him” or “Give Him Time,” one thing is undeniable: this summer is going to be fascinating.

What do you think? Should Real Madrid listen to the petition and move Mbappé on, or is this just over-the-top fan reaction during a tough season? Drop your hot takes in the comments below!

We’ll keep you updated as this story develops. Up the football drama! ⚽💥
