Football media outlet Goal.com has reported that Atalanta officially confirmed the dismissal of Ivan Juric on November 10th, 2025, relieving him of his duties as head coach along with his entire coaching staff.
The club issued a statement thanking Juric and his staff for their hard work and professionalism while acknowledging the need for change ahead of a challenging winter period.

The Final Straw

Juric’s dismissal came following a disastrous 3-0 home defeat to Sassuolo over the weekend, which proved to be the final breaking point for the Bergamo hierarchy.
This loss marked Atalanta’s 8th consecutive league match without a victory, leaving the team languishing in 13th place in the Serie A table and already 11 points behind league leaders Inter Milan after just 11 games.

Club officials are believed to have made their decision shortly after the final whistle against Sassuolo, having already drawn up contingency plans during the international break.

A Dismal Tenure

Appointed in June 2025 to succeed the legendary Gian Piero Gasperini, Juric managed just two wins in 11 league games and failed to recreate the intensity, flair, and success that defined the Gasperini era in Bergamo.
The 50-year-old’s sacking came just 5 months into his appointment, making his spell one of the shortest managerial reigns in Atalanta’s modern history.

Under his guidance, the team appeared tactically disoriented and emotionally flat compared to the high-energy sides of the Gasperini years.

This marks a particularly difficult period for Juric, as this represents his third dismissal within a year, having previously been let go by both Roma and Southampton.

The Challenging Task Of Replacing A Legend

Juric’s downfall was perhaps inevitable given the near-impossible task of succeeding Gasperini, whose 9-year tenure stands as one of the most transformative managerial reigns in modern Italian football, revolutionizing both the club’s identity and the perception of smaller-market teams in Serie A.

The crowning moment of Gasperini’s era came in 2024 when Atalanta defeated Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 to win the UEFA Europa League, the club’s first major European trophy.
By the time he departed for Roma in June 2025, he had secured 5 Champions League qualifications and 2 Serie A Coach of the Year awards.

Raffale Palladino: The Chosen Successor

Local reports in Bergamo state Palladino has signed a contract that will keep him at the Gewiss Stadium until June 30, 2027.
This one-and-a-half-year deal signifies the club’s faith in him to stabilize the team and implement a long-term project.

The official confirmation was made public on Tuesday, November 11th, 2025, by Transfer News Expert Fabrizio Romano.

At just 41 years old, the former Fiorentina and Monza manager has developed a reputation as one of Italy’s most promising young tacticians, known for blending possession-based, disciplined structure with attacking ambition, offering a sharp contrast to Juric’s more defensive and pragmatic approach.

This philosophy aligns better with the principles and legacy once instilled by Gasperini and the expectations of the fanbase, making him an appealing candidate to reawaken Atalanta’s trademark intensity.

Palladino is a former student of Gasperini and was also a teammate of Juric at Genoa, suggesting a desire for tactical continuity aligning with the playing style and mentality established by Gasperini during his successful period at the club.

His recent coaching experience and reputation include leading Monza to two consecutive Serie A survivals and guiding Fiorentina to a respectable 6th place finish in Serie A and a Conference League semi-final in the 2024/2025 season.
He is also praised for his focus on youth development.

Immediate Challenges Ahead

Palladino’s immediate priority and focus will be stabilizing results as they prepare to face Napoli after the international break.
With the team struggling for confidence and consistency, his first challenge will be to reintroduce tactical clarity and rebuild morale within a squad accustomed to the high standards of the Gasperini years.

Restoring the attacking spark of players like Gianluca Scamacca, Ademola Lookman, De Ketelaere, etc., will be essential if Atalanta are to climb back into the top half and eventually reclaim Serie A’s European places.

This appointment represents a critical juncture for Atalanta, who find themselves in an unacceptable mid-table position for a club that has grown accustomed to Champions League football and competing at the highest level of European competition.

Palladino’s task is clear: restore the identity and competitive edge that made Atalanta one of Italy’s most exciting and successful teams under Gasperini’s transformative leadership.
