In a tight, high-stakes clash at BMO Stadium, Los Angeles FC secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Atlanta United thanks to a late 86th-minute strike by Denis Bouanga. The result extended LAFC’s season-best winning streak to five straight games, while putting further pressure on their remaining opponents as they close out the regular season.
From the opening whistle, LAFC looked the more threatening side. They dominated territory and chances, outshooting Atlanta by a wide margin and maintaining possession control. Yet, Atlanta’s disciplined defensive setup, bolstered by a back five, kept many of those forays at bay.

In the first half, the 5-Stripes rarely broke from their rear, choosing to absorb pressure and counter when possible. LAFC’s attacks featured combinations between Timothy Tillman, Mark Delgado, and Bouanga, but clear openings were scarce. Atlanta’s keeper was called into action with a few reflex saves, keeping the visitors in the game.
Atlanta had glimpses of attacking life as well. One long-range attempt in the 70th minute rattled the post, a near miss that could’ve changed momentum.
But in the 86th minute, the breakthrough came. A cross into the box was flicked away but the ball fell kindly to Bouanga, who smashed a first-time volley to make it 1-0. For Bouanga, it was his 24th goal of the MLS regular season, and his 99th goal in LAFC colors in his 100th regular-season appearance for the club.

After that, Atlanta pushed forward in desperation, but LAFC held firm. The closing minutes were tense, but no equalizer arrived. The final whistle confirmed LAFC’s win and a clean sheet for Hugo Lloris.
