West Ham United have named Nuno Espirito Santo as their new manager, few hours after relieving manager Graham Potter of his duties.
Nuno was recently sacked by English side, Nottingham Forest on September 9, after three Premier League games in the new season.

However, Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Saturday in a post that the Portuguese coach has signed his contract with the Hammers and will take charge with immediate effect.
“Portuguese manager replaces Graham Potter with the first training session later today. Nuno says yes to #WHUFC project,” Romano wrote in a post on his social media handle.

The appointment will mark the beginning of a new era at the London Stadium. Nuno will start his era against Everton on Monday night.
Potter’s sack
English Manager, Graham Potter was dismissed earlier yesterday following a string of disappointing results that stretched from the second half of last season into the early weeks of the 2025/26 campaign.
The sack did not come as a big surprise for football fans and people in the industry. It was much expected following the 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace last week.
However, what was shocking was that Potter did the pre-match press conference yesterday. The sack came less than 24 hours later.
A club statement reads in part, “West Ham United can confirm that Head Coach Graham Potter has left the Club. Results and performances over the course of the second half of last season and the start of the 2025/26 season have not matched expectations, and the Board of Directors believe that a change is necessary in order to help improve the team’s position in the Premier League as soon as possible.”
Potter’s backroom staff, including assistant coach Bruno Saltor and first-team coaches Billy Reid and Narcis Pelach, lead goalkeeper coach Casper Ankergren, and goalkeeper coach Linus Kandolin also departed with him.
“The Board would like to thank Graham and his coaching staff for their hard work during their time with the Hammers and wish them every success for the future,” the statement added.
Nuno face big task
The Premier League is not a strange platform for experienced manager Nuno Espirito Santo. He had taken up such role at Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest.

Nuno is expected to hit the ground running, but face a difficult task away at Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Everton under David Moyes is a different proposition – they are strong at home.
The Hammers will also play Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium next Saturday, just before the International break.
