With preparations on the way as Chelsea will take a trip to Manchester United on Saturday, September 20, 2025, club manager Enzo Maresca has announced that Alejandro Garnacho who joined from Manchester United for £55 million in late August 2025, will make his first start against his former side at Old Trafford.
He stressed Garnacho’s great performances coming on as a substitute in recent games and believes that the 21 year old Argentine winger is ready for a start. Garnacho has really adapted to Chelsea’s tactical style and showed great strength when he came on against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League.
“In the last two games, he was inside very good. We are happy in the way he is adapting to our style.
“I think he’s ready to start,” he said.
The weekend fixture pits Chelsea who are unbeaten in the Premier League against Manchester United which is under a new manager, Ruben Amorim, with Maresca noting Manchester United’s counter-attack danger.

Possible Lineup
United’s manager Ruben Amorim will likely maintain their last outing against Manchester City with Bayindir in post behind Yoro, de Ligt and Shaw back line. Mazraoui, Ugarte, Fernandes and Dorgu in midfield and Mbeumo, Diallo and Sesko in front.
While Chelsea will possibly make one change in the team that lost to Bayern with Garnacho starting in place of Neto.

Garnacho was one of the lot of senior players that left the club this summer. This was largely attributed to the disciplinary actions he faced under Erik Ten Hag but the turning point of his career is believed to be when he was dropped from the squad for the Manchester derby.
We look forward to seeing the kind of reception he will get from the home fans come Saturday.
