The Golden Boy 2026 finalists are in, and Europe’s next generation has arrived in style. Tuttosport unveiled the 25 finalists on Monday 5 October, and the list reads like a future Ballon d’Or shortlist. Grab a snack, because there is a lot to unpack.
Golden Boy 2026 Finalists: The Basics
The list is made up of the top 25 players from the October update of the European Golden Boy Top 100, compiled with Transfermarkt, plus five wild cards invited by Tuttosport. To be eligible, a player must be born on or after 1 January 2006 and registered with a club in one of UEFA’s top 25 leagues. The winner will succeed PSG’s Désiré Doué, and 50 European journalists will choose the winner, who will be announced in November.
Cubarsí: The Man to Beat
Meet the favourite. Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsí leads the race after securing a regular starting spot and winning the World Cup. The False 9 calls him the clear favourite. Centre-backs rarely get this kind of hype, which makes his rise even more fun to watch.
La Masia vs Real Madrid
Barcelona have three finalists: Cubarsí, Marc Bernal and Xavi Espart. That shows La Masia is still a top talent pipeline.
Real Madrid answer with Yan Diomandé and Endrick, and Franco Mastantuono is listed with Fiorentina, on loan from Real Madrid
Premier League Power and a Bayern Wildcard
Eight Premier League talents made the shortlist, headed by Manchester City’s Ayyoub Bouaddi, with Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly and Bournemouth’s Rayan and Eli Junior Kroupi also in.
Bayern fans have a reason to cheer as well. Lennart Karl is on the list.
Who Could Spoil the Party?
Do not write off the chasing pack. The False 9 says Cubarsí, Diomandé, Lewis-Skelly, Gianluca Prestianni and Bouaddi are heading the race. A late-season surge could still shake things up, though that is our read, not a prediction from any official source.
