Make some noise, Barca fans. Raphinha has been crowned La Liga Player of the Month for September 2026, and it is the second month running that the Brazilian has walked away with the prize. The news landed on Tuesday 29 September, and after the month he just had, the only surprise is that anyone dared to vote for someone else.
Raphinha’s September at a glance

- Four La Liga appearances
- Seven goals and two assists, nine direct goal contributions
- Back-to-back hat-tricks against Racing Santander and Sevilla
- Second straight La Liga Player of the Month award
Why Raphinha Won La Liga Player of the Month

Let us talk about those hat-tricks. First, Racing Santander were on the receiving end of a 7-2 demolition, with Raphinha grabbing three. Then Sevilla came to town, and he did it all over again in a 3-1 win. Two matches, six goals, and defenders across Spain now checking their calendars nervously.

Barcelona scored 19 league goals in September, and Raphinha personally supplied seven of them. That is more than a third of the entire team’s output from one man. Add two assists and you get nine goal contributions from four games.
Raphinha Beat Mbappe and Jonathan David

The shortlist was loaded. Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe was nominated after three goals and two assists. Atletico Madrid striker Jonathan David made the cut with three goals and one assist. Rayo Vallecano’s Sergio Camello (four goals, one assist) and Elche’s Ver Nino (four goals) completed the list. Raphinha still outshone them all.
Back-to-Back Awards for the Barcelona Captain
This is the second consecutive La Liga Player of the Month trophy for the 29-year-old. He won August after scoring in the wins over Elche, Athletic Club and Rayo Vallecano, beating out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Jude Bellingham and others. He has also collected this award before, back in August 2024.

His form has not stopped at the league border either. He scored in the 5-0 win over Valencia and added a double against Feyenoord in the Champions League. One striking stat from that run: he became only the second player this century to score six goals in the first four La Liga games of a season. The first was Lionel Messi. Not bad company.
The Comeback Story Behind the Numbers

Remember, this is the same Raphinha who arrived from Leeds United and had to earn every inch of respect. Now he leads Hansi Flick’s side as captain, and he plays with the fire of a man who knows exactly how far hard work can carry you. Talent opens the door, but discipline keeps you in the room.
What Comes Next

The trophy is lovely, but October is where legends are separated from hot streaks. Barcelona are perfect in La Liga with 21 points from 21, and Raphinha is the engine driving that machine. If he keeps this pace, a hat-trick of monthly awards is not a fantasy. It is a real possibility.
