KIM MIN: SPECULATIONS
Speculative reports state that Bayern Munich are considering offloading South Korean centre-back Kim Min-jae during the forthcoming January transfer window, following current discontent with his performances since joining from Napoli in 2023 for €50 million (club record purchase for an Asian Player), and as part of a broader defensive reformation at the Bavarian Club.
Due to criticisms for his inconsistent performances since moving to Munich, Kim has fallen below the pecking order behind the established and preferred partnership between Dayot Upamecano and Jonathan Tah, thereby limiting him to a rotational or backup role under Manager Vincent Kompany.
Bayern Management is open to a €30-35 million transfer or loan deal, lower than his €45 million valuation. His high annual salary, which is seen as inappropriate for a bench player, complicates things. Reports also state that Bayern view Crystal Palace’s Marc Guehi as a suitable replacement should they successfully offload Kim, and Bayern is also dealing with Dayot Upamecano’s contract renewal situation.

INTERESTED MOVES IN KIM MIN
Interest from Serie A clubs is intensifying as AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Juventus, being the lead contenders, are well familiar with his successful Napoli 2022/2023 season, where he won the Serie A best defender award. His reputation and quality abilities have also reportedly gathered significant interest from other top European clubs such as Tottenham, Liverpool, Newcastle, Chelsea and clubs in the Saudi Pro League who are ever ready to splash the cash on proven talents across Europe.
Sources report that Kim still stays focused and feels comfortable at Bayern as the management still views him as an essential player, even though he prioritises regular minutes ahead of South Korea’s 2026 World Cup campaign, as the desire for first-team football is a motivation for any footballer. Although no deal is finalised yet, he could stay until summer 2026 as Bayern’s tight schedule across all competitions, their high-intensity tactic system, and squad rotational needs could see him earn more playing time, unless an Irresistible and convincing transfer deal emerges in January.
