Igor Thiago opened the scoring in the 8th minutes after lashing on a long pass from Jordan Henderson. He added the second in the 20th minute when United faced to clear their lines after goalkeeper Altay Bayındır parried a shot to his direction.
United were brought back into the game six minutes after when summer signing, Benjemin Šeško, pulled one back to leave the scoreline at 2-1 in the first half.

Manchester United missed the chance to come level in the 76th minute when captain Bruno Fernandes’ penalty was saved by goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher. This is the second penalty miss for the Portuguese this season, having missed one against Fulham in the second game on August 24.
Deep into the injury time, Mathias Jensen converted a counterattack to punished United for the penalty miss.
