Chelsea 2-0 Man Utd was a game of two halves. The second belonged to a man with swagger and a man with a milestone. Morgan Rogers’ second-half opener and a Cole Palmer penalty increased the pressure on Michael Carrick, and a nervy Saturday at Stamford Bridge became a statement win. dave
A First Half United Should Have Won

For 45 minutes, this was Manchester United’s party. Bryan Mbeumo said afterwards that United could have been one or two goals up. He had a point. United wasted their first-half chances, and Chelsea saw efforts ruled out for offside.
Morgan Rogers’ Solo Goal: Pure Theatre

Five minutes after the restart, the game flipped. Romeo Lavia won possession in midfield, and Rogers carried the ball almost the entire length of the United half before lifting a deft finish over goalkeeper Senne Lammens. It was bold and unstoppable, and it was exactly what a record signing is supposed to do.

The £117m club-record signing now has six goals and four assists in 13 appearances this season. There is a twist, too. Rogers credits Carrick with reviving his career at Middlesbrough, and he then dealt his old boss a potentially decisive blow.
Lisandro Martinez Red Card: Game Over

United were still reeling when Lisandro Martinez self-destructed. He was penalised for hauling back Rogers, then needlessly crashed into Wesley Fofana with a raised forearm. After a VAR review, referee Peter Bankes awarded a penalty and showed him a second yellow card. United went from dangerous to doomed in minutes.
Cole Palmer’s 50th Premier League Goal

Palmer converted in the 64th minute, and Lammens got a hand to the spot-kick but could not keep it out. It was his 50th Premier League goal for Chelsea, reached in his 105th appearance. It was also his first goal in six games. Milestone reached, and a long wait ended.
The Estevao Factor

Chelsea’s new attack looked fun to watch. Estevao Willian played 86 minutes, had six shots, created three chances and completed five dribbles. He left to a standing ovation and a hug from Xabi Alonso. The big question is how he, Palmer and Rogers can keep clicking together.
What This Means for Chelsea and Carrick
Chelsea move back into the top four, at least temporarily, with three wins from four league games since the last international break. Alonso sounded pleased but demanding, saying Chelsea can still improve.

For United, the picture is grim. They sit 17th on seven points from nine games. Chelsea fans even serenaded Carrick with chants that he would be sacked in the morning
