Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium {61,202 Attendees}
Result: Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea
Goalscorers:
CFC: Joao Pedro (34’)

Chelsea secured a 1-0 away victory at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Joao Pedro scoring the decisive goal to push the Blues back up to 4th place on the EPL table.
This London derby showcased two sides operating at vastly different levels, with Chelsea exerting their superiority throughout the contest.
The victory was particularly significant for Chelsea as they moved level on points with Tottenham in the EPL standings while maintaining their momentum in what has been an inconsistent but promising campaign under Enzo Maresca.
For Tottenham, the defeat is another disappointment for manager Thomas Frank in what has become a troubling home record.

The only goal of the game scored by Joao Pedro was a direct result of relentless pressing and a key defensive error by Tottenham. Tottenham’s defensive fragility exposed the goal, continuing a worrying trend for the home side.

The match was defined by a dominant high-pressing Chelsea performance that continually troubled a strangely passive and cautious Tottenham side. This result saw Chelsea claim its fifth consecutive EPL victory over Tottenham.

Key Statistics

The match stats reveal a stark picture of Chelsea’s control and Spurs’ offensive impotence.
For shots on target, Chelsea registered 5 compared to Tottenham’s 2.
For shot attempts, Chelsea registered 11 compared to Tottenham’s 8.
For possession, stats showed Tottenham held 48% while Chelsea held 52%.
Both teams received 5 yellow cards each, reflecting the intense nature of this London derby, while Chelsea earned 4 corners to Tottenham’s 6.

Match Atmosphere

Chelsea’s display was characterized by intelligent, aggressive pressing, defensive solidity, rapid transition, and clinical finishing when the opportunity arose. The Blues were much improved from the previous weekend’s home defeat against Sunderland.

Tottenham struggled to implement any coherent attacking strategy, with their buildup play repeatedly breaking down in the final third. Their defensive vulnerability and creative, decisive attacking inadequacy resulted in a disjointed, ineffective display.

Conclusion

Spurs’ performance was deeply concerning, particularly given they were playing at home with an opportunity to move up the standings.
They had the chance to go second with a draw or win, but they remain in 3rd place behind Bournemouth and leaders Arsenal.
This loss continues a worrying trend of poor home form and signals an identity crisis, according to some reports, as fans reacted negatively to the team’s defensive and unadventurous approach.

Chelsea, meanwhile, demonstrated the resilience, tactical maturity, and qualities required to secure results in difficult away environments.
The three points earned at Spurs’ Stadium could prove crucial in their pursuit of Champions League Football Qualification.
