Later tonight French side Olympique de Marseille (OM) will host unbeaten Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint Germain (PSG) in the fifth match day of the 2025/26 season.
This will be the 110th time the duo will face each other in all competitions, a fixture in which Marseille has won 34, drawn 23 and lost 52.
Marseille have won their last six home matches in their domestic league but have not had a longer run than this since Marcelo Bielsa tenure. After beating Lorient with a clean sheet in their last outing their morale are heightened and they hope to keep back-to-back clean sheets for the first time since December 2023 when they had two.
However, Marseille remain winless in their last 12 home games against PSG, of which they have lost nine and drawn 3. This, which is their longest drought against a single opponent, is always a thrilling encounter. Olympique de Marseille have also not been able to score at the Stade Vélodrome against their rivals for six Ligue 1 matches, their longest streak against the same team.
On the other hand, PSG hope to start a Ligue 1 campaign with five wins in a row for the fourth time over the last nine seasons, a feat which no other team has been able to accomplish since Marseille since 2012/13.
Squads
OM coach De Zerbi will likely stick with their 4-2-3-1 formation and usual lineup from recent games but will make one change bringing on Emerson Palmieri for Swiss Ulisses Garcia in the left back position.
Meanwhile PSG will likely stick to their 4-3-3 formation used at home in the 4-0 win over Atalanta. However, they will make a two changes as Bradley Barcola and Ousmane Dembele will give way for Lee Kang-in and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia going forward.
