Goal.com reports that Manchester United have confirmed that Benjamin Sesko has avoided a serious knee injury after scan results came back following tests.
The striker is expected to miss approximately one month of action, which comes as a significant relief to the club given initial concerns about the severity of the injury.
How the Injury Occurred
According to Goal.com, Sesko sustained the knee injury late in Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur before the international break. The striker, who had been introduced as a second-half substitute, went down clutching his knee after a collision with Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven and was unable to continue after United had already used all their substitutions.
Medical Assessment
Initial fears of an ACL tear or major long-term injury have been ruled out. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Manchester United’s medical team felt “quite positive” after examining Sesko, confirming it was not a severe injury that would sideline him for 6, 7, or 8 months.
The medical team was encouraged that early swelling quickly subsided and stability tests showed no significant damage to the joint.
International Break Complications
According to reports by UtdDistrict, Sesko withdrew from Slovenia’s World Cup qualifiers against Kosovo and Sweden, which created tension between Manchester United and the Slovenian national team.
Slovenia’s coaching staff expressed concerns about how United handled information regarding the injury, leading the Football Association of Slovenia to intervene.
The player ultimately remained at Manchester United’s Carrington training facility for treatment rather than joining up with his national team.
Expected Return Timeline
Goal.com speculates that with proper recovery management and no unexpected setbacks, Sesko is projected to resume full training toward the latter stages of December.
His return is expected near the end of December, which would make him potentially available for the match against Aston Villa on December 21st.

The timing is particularly challenging as Manchester United enters one of the most intense periods of the season. The club has limited depth in the striker position, and they will also be without Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo during the Africa Cup of Nations, which runs from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
Sesko has scored 2 goals in 12 appearances this season while adjusting to the Premier League’s physicality and the tactical demands of manager Ruben Amorim’s system.
The positive news is that this represents a best-case scenario given initial concerns when he left the pitch in visible discomfort against Tottenham.
