Match Summary

The second half seemed more promising after a frustrating first half run where Luxembourg remained sturdy on the defense. The game opener came four minutes into the second half through Woltemade who got on the end of Leroy Sane’s cross and put it past the goalkeeper.
Shortly after Luxembourg almost leveled through Christopher Martins who was only able to shoot off-target from six yards out, the 23-year-old then increased Luxembourg’s deficit with a little over 20 minutes of regular playing time left on the clock when he swept in an incisive pass from Ridle Baku.

A few minutes later, Germany came close to claiming a third through Liverpool’s Florian Wirtz who saw his effort blocked.
Luxembourg struggled to revive their energy and could easily have drawn at the three-quarter mark but Germany were very much able to hold them off.
