Also, an early penalty ruling was overturned after VAR review before Madrid got a penalty early in the first half, one which Mbappé was unable to convert. Barcelona were hurt by their late discipline as Pedri was booked for the second time and was sent off.

Madrid who were top of the LaLiga standings with 24 points from nine games will maintain their spot with a tally of 27 points from 10 games. This victory sets a five-point gap between them and Barcelona who remain with 22 points from 10 games.
This game will also serve as a statement victory illustrating Madrid’s intentions of lifting the league title this campaign.
