Manchester United’s manager, Ruben Amorim has been given three games ultimatum to save his job at Old Trafford. The Portuguese has overseen the club’s worst start to a Premier League season in 33 years.
According to sources, is believed to have the full backing of the club’s hierarchy for now but they are likely going to ‘assess the situation and the trajectory of the team’ after their next three fixtures when they go on another international break in October.
It is worthy of note that his predecessor, Erik Ten Hag was given the same assurances from United’s leadership before he was dismissed nine games into last campaign in October 2024.
United are currently sitting at 14th place in the Premier League table with just four points with Amorim winning just eight out of thirty one league games since he took over last November.
Five candidates have been listed as possible replacements for Amorim, they include, Oliver Glasner, Marco Silva, Andoni Iraola, Mauricio Pochettino and Gareth Southgate.
Despite the fact that some players are already loosing confidence in his system, other publications suggest that United may hold on to him for a while as it would be very expensive to sack him in the first year of his contract as a result of a clause on his agreement.

It is believed that his 3-4-3 system is his undoing as it poses a huge discomfort for some of the players to adapt to. While some fans are concerned about his emotional reactions, particularly after losing games as was seen last month when he lost to Grimsby, in his post-match outburst he said, “sometimes I hate my players; sometimes I want to quit”.
Nevertheless, United will face Chelsea, Brentford and Sunderland in the coming weeks, and if they don’t show any progress between now and their trip to Liverpool in October Amorim may be dismissed.
